And I want you to know a little secret…
You can do hard things!
To include overcoming your current breastfeeding challenges and feeling confident with infant feeding.
This mantra, “You can do hard things!” got me through a tough birth and difficult breastfeeding journey.
Before becoming a lactation consultant, I was a NICU nurse for over ten years. I was working at a large hospital in Chicago when they "let go" of the lactation consultants and told us, "breastfeeding is everyone's job." I was a young, single, 20-something nurse who knew very little about breastfeeding. I became a CLC and started to put my new skills to practice. I loved helping NICU moms gain the confidence to nourish their babies through pumping, bottle feeding, and breastfeeding.
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always thought NICU nursing was my calling, but somewhere along the way, I found a new passion. In 2014, I became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant or IBCLC.
